Winter Wishes Wrap

Hey there!

The other day I was thinking…there are so many holiday parties coming up. What am I going to wear?

Sometimes you want to dress up, buy a pretty new outfit or dress and do you really want to cover up with a bulky coat? I know I don’t. On the other hand, I don’t want to freeze either! Dilemmas, dilemmas.

So I came up with the Winter Wishes Wrap!

Here is a wrap that is cute AND warm! The yarn that I chose for this project has a gold strand running through it, which gives this wrap the perfect amount of sparkle!

Now, you can use whatever yarn you wish and adjust the length and width to your liking. I’ve included information on altering this pattern in the notes section.

Also, as I was whipping up this beauty, I thought about all the other times someone could use this wrap. I have a January wedding I’ll be attending so there are winter weddings. Winter formals are coming up too. If I had a daughter, I know that I’d want her to stay warm and everyone knows how stubborn teens can be when it comes to wearing a coat! Ha! There’s Prom, New Years Eve parties, Christmas and Hanukkah parties, nights out on the town, holiday gifts, birthday gifts, etc.

And even if you didn’t want to dress up, choose a yarn that isn’t sparkly and you have an adorable everyday wrap!

The Winter Wishes Wrap was so easy to make. You only need to know single crochet and double crochet. And…best of all, it’s a one row repeat! Yasss!

The stitch pattern is called the side saddle stitch. This was the first time I’ve ever used it and I can honestly say that it was a lot of fun! The stitch pattern calls for double crocheting four together, but it isn’t difficult at all. I’ve even included written instructions for the stitch if you aren’t familiar with it.

Another wrap pattern I designed is the Cranberry Chill Wrap that you can find at the link.

If you prefer shawls, there are the Cappuccino Triangle Shawl and the Grand Canyon Shawl that is V-shaped!

  1. Hi Marie! I believe it would be considered width wise. You start with the shorter end and the amount of rows you crochet creates the length. I hope that makes sense. Thanks for commenting!

  2. Hi Barb!

Believe it or not, it’s actually one of those plastic sticks that you use to hold your hair! I wanted to use a decorative pin, but I just couldn’t find one that I liked, so this worked in a pinch. Thanks for asking!

  3. Just curious what you are using to hold it together. I can’t tell what it is by looking at the first pic.

    Thanks

  4. Hi Julie! I’m so glad that you picked this shawl to make for your granddaughter! Thank you. So, it just so happens that my twin sons are 10 and I was able to come up with a starting chain of 62 for you. When I measured from my son’s shoulder to the small of his back, I got 17″ and then I made a chain that length. If you feel like this number isn’t quite what you need, you just need a multiple of 5 + 2 chains. I hope this helps!

  5. Hi Cathy! You’re so welcome for the pattern. I’m also glad that you like the wrap. The truth of the matter is that I am a size XL and this wrap fits me perfectly! If you have any other questions, please let me know. Thanks!

  6. This wrap is beautiful. I’m going to make it for my sister who is a size XL. Could you tell me a starting chain or how many inches width for an XL? I would appreciate it. Thanks for the beautiful pattern!!
