Rag Quilt Style Baby Blanket

Does anyone remember rag quilts? Does anyone still make them?

I remember some of the quilts that my grandmother used to have and I sincerely wish that I could’ve gotten my hands on a couple. I have no idea if she still has them or if they’re long gone.

So this week’s crochet pattern was inspired by the beloved rag quilt!

Upcycled Star Garland

So here I am again with another upcycled garland pattern. I just love these so much. I get to make something pretty and upcycle something that might otherwise end up in a landfill. I do recycle religiously, but I’m hoping that by sharing this pattern, other people could help out in the fight against polluting the planet. I realize it’s a small gesture, however, I honestly believe that big things begin with little steps!

Granny Square Cabin Rug

The Granny Square Cabin Rug is such a fun little project! I’ve made several rugs in my crocheting lifetime and I’m currently using five in my home—they last a really long time. I’ve had mine for years and washed them tons of times. I’m very happy with how durable they are. I always make them with multiple strands of yarn at the same time, which makes them super thick and comfortable under your feet.

Happy 4th of July!

Summer is in full swing now. The days are long and the sun is HOT! And because of Memorial Day, the 4th of July and Labor Day, how could we not celebrate America all summer long? Personally, I keep Americana decorations up all year, but summer tends to be the peek of country pride season.

Garden Window Clothespin Bag

Hey Everyone!

May I present the Garden Window Clothespin Bag!

Originally I started this clothespin bag because I was testing the pattern for the Blue Ribbon Clothespin Bag. I had an extra skein of Red Heart Cornmeal in a tote and thought it would be perfect for the test. When this bag started coming to life, I had a new vision. I could see a window overlooking a garden of flowers! It was beautiful in my head and I am so pleased with how this came out.

Here’s another one of those patterns that I have fully tested in my own home…for almost 10 years!

When we moved into our new house, the first thing I asked my husband to build was a clothesline. I’d never had one of my own before. I went out and bought some clothespins, but I needed a bag or something to put them in. Until I could find a solution to my problem, I was using a plastic ice cream bucket and it was not cutting it!

Can’t beat that.

Burlap-like Ruffle Garland

Hey Everyone!

I love the look of the burlap wreaths and garlands that you see everywhere these days. It’s so country! I’ve been meaning to try my hand at crafting with the burlap, but I just never got around to it.

One of the archways in my house, a rather large one that opens up to my staircase, was looking a little bare.  I dug through my gigantic yarn stash (anyone else have one of those?) and found a couple skeins of the Red Heart Warm Brown. It was remarkable how close this color came to matching burlap.

And it hit me!  A soft, flexible garland that looks like burlap! Fantastic!
