The cross body strap is easily adjustable to whatever length you desire. You will simply need to add or remove rows of single crochet.

At the end of the pattern, I will include the brief stitch tutorial. This stitch is essentially a modified version of the trinity stitch. Once you get the hang of it, you will effortlessly cruise through the pattern, which makes the Rainbow Bottle Holder a good pattern for working on while watching TV! I love these types of patterns!

To simplify the pattern even more, you can always use a self striping yarn or a solid color. Not having to change colors for every row will make this already quick pattern work up even faster.

I’ve also created a Rainbow Sunglasses Pouch that matches the Rainbow Bottle Holder, but with a sweet little cloud detail at the top. Be sure to click the link to see the sister pattern.

I decided to make this with soft cotton instead of a scratchy acrylic yarn, which will be more comfortable in the warmer weather. If you chose to make the rainbow version, you could reasonably make several holders with the six skeins of yarn. A great idea for craft fairs!

Quick story: My son has been nagging me for months that he wanted to model something for me. And since I don’t make many boy items, I had no idea what he could model. When he saw this water bottle holder he begged to be in the pictures. So I agreed. At one point I said, “Take the bottle out and take a drink.” For some reason, this was hilarious to him and he couldn’t stop laughing! Can you tell? He cracks me up! πŸ˜›

Row 2 – Row 125: Ch 1, sc in each st across. Turn. {5 sc}

Finish off. Leave a 5” – 6” tail for sewing.

On Round 18, count 14 sts from one of the edges of the attached strap (it doesn’t matter which side) and place a stitch marker. This will be where you attach the other side of the strap to Round 18.

Make sure the strap is not twisted. Using a tapestry needle and the long tail from finishing off the strap, whip st the strap to the main body of the Rainbow Water Bottle Holder. You can use whichever joining method you prefer, I just found the whip st to be the easiest. Remove stitch marker. Weave in any loose ends.
